What is happening?

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) is allowing the six LME/MCOs reciprocity for some Tailored Plan-required trainings. The trainings that can receive reciprocity are:

  • EPSDT/Into the Mouth of Babes
  • Fraud, Waste, Abuse
  • Population Health
  • Infection Prevention and Control
  • Tobacco Cessation/Tobacco Free Campus

Note: The Fraud, Waste, Abuse training may be embedded as part of other trainings. Titles for the Population Health training may vary among LME/MCOs.

When will the change take effect?

This change will take place immediately.

How does this change affect providers?

If a provider completes one of the approved trainings from an LME/MCO other than Partners, that provider will not have to repeat that training  as a requirement to participate in Partners’ Provider Network.

The LME/MCOs will continue to review trainings for reciprocity opportunities and alert you of additional approved trainings.

Please note that  some trainings, such as Provider Manual training, are unique to Partners coverage area and are not available for reciprocity.

What do providers need to do?

Providers should inform Partners if they have taken any of the approved trainings through another LME/MCO. This will ensure that providers are credited for completing the required training.

There are other trainings, such as Provider Manual training, that are unique to the Partners region. These trainings will not have reciprocity among the LME/MCOs operating Tailored Plans.
