Correction of PCB #123: Requests for Peer Support Services
Provider Communication Bulletin #123, published Nov. 18, 2021, notes the following information regarding Peer Support Services (PSS):
Clinical Coverage Policy 8G, is required for both Medicaid and State-funded Peer Support Services:
- A comprehensive clinical assessment (CCA) that demonstrates medical necessity must be completed by a licensed clinician prior to the provision of this service.
Correction: CCA may be completed within 30 days from the start of services. This coincides with the Provider Alert issued on February 19, 2020: https://providers.partnersbhm.org/peer-support-clarification/
There are no changes to documentation requirements for Timely Follow-up providers of Peer Support Services.

NC Medicaid and the Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services is hosting an informational session regarding the updated Supported Employment Service Definition for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). The targeted audience for this presentation is Care Coordinators, future Tailored Plan Care Managers, provider agencies, individuals interested in Supported Employment services and their family/natural supports. Participants will receive an overview of the definition, which includes specific criteria for services and featured highlights of the updated service definition.
