NC Tracks and AlphaMCS Updates
In the June Provider Bulletin, we told you about the need to ensure that the information loaded in AlphaMCS and the information enrolled in NC Tracks matched. The following information is related to those announcements and is follow-up to those notices.
Partners Behavioral Health Management is now in the process of meeting NC Division of Medical Assistance (DMA) contractual requirements that went into place with this year’s DMA/Managed Care Organization (MCO) contract effective July 1, 2017. Under this new contract, claims paid by Partners must be approved when submitted “upstream” to NC Tracks. DMA will begin assessing a penalty on MCOs for failing to meet the requirement for claims processing when submitted as “encounter claims” upstream starting on January 1, 2018 for services provided after July 1, 2017.
For that reason, Partners has implemented a new process for updating information inside AlphaMCS. In addition to the primary source verification already being completed for each request, Partners will only update the information inside of AlphaMCS after we have verified that the information has been updated and effective inside NC Tracks. The only way to ensure that claims process correctly to NC Tracks is to verify NC Tracks enrollment prior to making updates to AlphaMCS. These updates include both agencies and individual clinician information related to:
- license renewals (including annual license updates),
- NPI changes
- address changes
- taxonomy changes
Partners understands that there is a delay with NC Tracks’ Manage Change Requests (MCR) process, however, we have no impact on this process. We ask you to continue to submit Change Request Forms (available at https://providers.partnersbhm.org/provider-enrollment-credentialing/) for all changes and notify us at enrollment@partnersbhm.org as soon as the enrollment in NC Tracks takes effect. We will verify the information in NC Tracks in addition to verifying the source of the change (i.e., the licensing board and NPPES as appropriate) and then make the change in AlphaMCS immediately.
If your MCR with NC Tracks is delayed for six weeks or longer, please contact your Provider Network Account Specialist so that we can submit a request to expedite that request. If you are not sure who your Provider Network Specialist is, please view the directory available at https://providers.partnersbhm.org/find-provider-specialist/.
In an effort to ensure that only acceptable behavioral health taxonomies are enrolled in AlphaMCS, Partners has allowed AlphaMCS to end date all taxonomies NOT approved for behavioral health services inside each provider’s profile. The acceptable list of taxonomies is published on Partners’ Provider Knowledge Base at https://providers.partnersbhm.org/claims-information/.
In order to have an acceptable taxonomy added to your profile, you will need to:
- Have that taxonomy added to the NPI number in NPPES.
- Submit a MCR to NC Tracks to add the taxonomy
- Submit a Change Request Form to Partners have that taxonomy added to your profile in AlphaMCS.
If you have further questions regarding this information, please email CredentialingTeam@PartnersBHM.org or call 704-842-6483.
