AlphaMCS Build 2.04

Below you will find the changes impacting providers in the upcoming AlphaMCS build. This build is scheduled to occur this Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017. If you have questions regarding this information, or need assistance after the build takes place, please contact the IT Service Desk at 704-842-6431.

UB-04 Fields 14 & 15 – Previously, Fields 14 and 15 on the UB-04 were required, but not marked as a required field. Now, these fields have been marked to be required on the front end.

Box 33b on CMS-1500 – When a CMS-1500 was updated, the taxonomy entered in Box 33b would be incorrectly identified. This bug has been corrected so users will no longer have to re-enter the taxonomy every time the CMS-1500 is updated.

Enhancement–UB-04 – The verbiage for Box 56 has been changed to “Billing Provider NPI”

Enhancement–UB-04 – Box 64 (DCN) will now only allow numerical values. The field name has also been updated to indicate that this field is for a Claim Header number.

Enhancement–UB-04 – Box 17 will be required whenever Bill Type 011x is entered.

Enhancement–UB-04 – A tool tip will appear letting the user know that a taxonomy belongs in Box 81 if used with a B3 qualifier.

Enhancement – UB-04 – Box 58 will provide the user with flexibility when entering values.

Enhancement – CMS-1500 – Site Selection has been moved down with the service line. The Date of Service and other service line detail can be used to assist in selecting the correct site.

Enhancement – CMS-1500 – The ICD9/ICD10 checkbox defaults to ICD10.

Enhancement – CMS-1500 – The taxonomy field in the Service screen will populate based on the NPI to Taxonomy mappings. As the user types, the field will auto-populate all taxonomies that are effective for that NPI in Provider Network.

Enhancement – CMS-1500 – The values in Box 22 have been updated to reflect the data on the 837.

Enhancement – Eligibility of Benefits – Mediware has added the ability for AlphaMCS and Portal users to upload EOB documents for consumers in the Patient module. The documents will also be able to be viewed from the Claims Maintenance module whenever the claim is a secondary claim.

Enhancement – REF SUB Field – Validation has been added to the REF SUB field on the UB-04 and CMS-1500 to prevent users from mistakenly entering alphanumeric values or claim numbers that are not associated to the Provider listed on the claim. Validation will occur on Save/Submit.

Invalid Service Code – Validation was added to display an alert staying, “Must enter a valid service from the list,” whenever a user enters an invalid service code.
